The “Orban” formula

The “Orban” formula is built on impenetrable protection of the national sovereignty, flavoured with economic populism and social conservatism. And all of this trimmed with а methodical formation of suspicion towards the European institutions and stigmatisation of “the liberal elites, the greedy bankers and the uncontrollable media”. With his confrontational style, used mainly with his opponents in the European Union, he managed to stabilise his internal positions, claiming that the Hungarian people prefers his stability and strong leadership to liberalism. Orban does not hide his adherence to non-liberal modes of thinking and governing.
